Identification Study of Astragali Radix of Different Origins by Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis

Abstract：Objectives:To explore the feasibility of using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(PAGE) to identify radix astragali. Method:Water-soluble proteins in 12 batches of radix astragali were extracted by ultra-sonic and processed with PAGE,and the electrophoretogram was analyzed by using gel imaging system. Results:Electrophoretogram of radix astragali showed rich amount of information. There were obvious similarities in 11 common characteristic bands,while there were differences observed in the number of bands,relative mo-bility(Rf) and relative content of protein. Conclusion:PAGE has many advantages,such as high resolution, stable band and good reproducibility,and therefore it can be used in differentiating radix astragali.
