Research progress on the extraction of alkaloid compounds using deep eutectic solvents

Abstract：Alkaloids,as nitrogen-containing natural compounds characterized by complex cyclic structures and significant pharmacological activities,present a fundamental challenge for their efficient and precise extraction in natural drug development.Conventional methods,including acid extraction followed by alkaline precipitation and organic solvent extraction,are often associated with high toxicity,poor selectivity,and interference from impurities,rendering them less compatible with green chemistry principles.Deep eutectic solvents(DES),distinguished by their tunable properties,low toxicity,and high solvation capacity,provide a novel strategy for sustainable alkaloid extraction.This review systematically summarized recent advances in DES-based extraction methodologies for alkaloids,with the aim of establishing a reference framework for the advancement of green extraction and separation systems.
