Pharmaceutical research on topical ointments and creams preparations for cutaneous application

Abstract：Ointments and creams are semi-solid dosage forms designed for therapeutic efficacy through topical cutane-ous application.Based on the current status of global development and regulatory submissions for these dosage forms,this ar-ticle systematically explored their pharmaceutical research aspects,including formulation development,manufacturing processes and quality control strategies.Focusing on critical aspects such as excipient matrix selection,process parameter re-finement,and their impacts on product performance,we presented preliminary perspectives to highlight key challenges in de-veloping these formulations.Although the perspectives presented may not be exhaustive,this exploration aimed to provide ac-tionable references and insighted to advance research and development in this field.
