Abstract:Disodium cantharidinate is a derivative compound of the active ingredient cantharidin in Mylabris.Research has demonstrated that disodium cantharidinate has demonstrated significant antitumor activity against various malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer. Moreover, its toxicity and irritancy are markedly reduced compared to cantharidin. Its anticancer mechanisms are multifaceted, encompassing cell cycle arrest, inhibition proliferation, induction apoptosis, and suppression of tumor angiogenesis.Additionally, disodium cantharidinate-based formulations, such as Disodium Cantharidinate Injection and Disodium Cantharidinate/Vitamin B6 Injection, are widely employed due to their dual role in exerting direct antitumor effects and alleviating chemotherapy-induced adverse reaction. This review aims to summarize the anticancer mechanisms, clinical applications, and drug interactions of disodium cantharidinate, thereby providing a reference for further research and potential clinical repositioning.
