Abstract：The dried root of Psammosilene tunicoides W.C.Wu et C.Y.Wu,is a common folk herbal medicine in south-west China,which contains tri terpenoids,cyclic peptides,maltoside,alkaloids.It has a variety of pharmacological activities,such as analgesic,anti-inflammatory,immunomodulatory,antioxidant,antibacterial,and also has certain toxicity.This paper summarized the information from current publications on the root of Psammosilene tunicoides,with a focus on its chemical composition,pharmacological effects,and traditional efficacy,etc.,and clarifies compounds including 3-methyl-β-D-glucu-ronidin,triterpenoid saponins and allantoin can be used as the main Q-Marker of this folk herbal medicine.We hope that this paper will stimulate further investigation and application of P.tunicoides.
