Research progress on the regulation of gutmicrobiota by Radix Scutellariae in the treatment of ulcerative colitis

Abstract：Radix Scutellariae,a Chinese herb with a long history of medical usage,is commonly employed to treat vari-ous ailments.Radix Scutellariae has gained considerable attention due to its effectiveness in treating ulcerative colitis,as well as its well-established pharmacological properties including antimicrobial,detoxifying,anti-inflammatory,and anticancer effects.Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the digestive tract characterized by a complex etiolo-gy associated with an imbalance in intestinal microecology.Restoring the equilibrium of intestinal microecology is crucial for the treatment of ulcerative colitis.A comprehensive investigation on the association between Radix Scutellariae and gut mi-crobiota is currently lacking.Therefor,this article aimed to comprehensively review the regulatory effects of Radix Scutellariae and its active ingredients on the intestinal microbiota in the treatment of ulcerative colitis,with the objective of unveiling its potential mechanism for the management of this disease.
