Abstract：Hydrogel-forming microneedle is a novel type of polymeric microneedle that has gained much attention lately.When inserted into the skin,it absorbs the interstitial fluid to form continuous and unobstructed micropores that allow drugs to enter the body through the gaps in the network structure.Hydrogel-forming microneedle has high drug loading ca-pacity,adjustable drug release rate,and lack of residual needles,making it become a research hotspot in recent years.This study aims to present a thorough review of the applications of hydrogel-forming microneedle technology in skin interstitial fluid sampling and biomarker analysis,wound treatment,antitumor,drug reservoir,and other areas in recent years while of-fering insights into its future research prospects.
