New method for the synthesis of cinacalcet hydrochloride

Abstract：Objective A new method was developed for the synthesis of cinacalcet hydrochloride. Methods Cinacal-cet hydrochloride was prepared from 3 -(3 - trifluoromethylphenyl)- 1 - propanol via three steps,including DMSO/ P2 O5 mediated oxidation,iron triflate catalyzed reductive amination of aldehydes using sodium borohydride,and finally hydrochlo-ride formation. Results and Conclusion This method used environmentally benign reagents to prepare cinacalcet hydro-chloride in only three steps with an overall good yield of 57. 8% .
