Clinical observation of Melilotus Extract Tablets combined with Dujiu for treating ankylosing spondylitis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of Melilotus Extract Tablets (MET)with DuJiu on inflammatory cyto-kines (TNF -α,IL -2,IL -6)in ankylosing spondylitis with positive HLA -B27,and explore it′s mechanism of clinical efficacy.Methods 40 AS patients with positive HLA -B27 were randomly divided into two groups:treatment group re-ceived MET,control group received diclofenac.Clinical manifestation and disease activities index were recorded,serum lev-els of T lymphocyte were determined by using Flow Cytometry method in the patients of AS.Results There were no signifi-cant difference before therapy between the two groups(P >0.05)in CRP and ESR and the T lymphocyte,after 4 weeks treatment,all patients had obviously improvement in CRP and ESR,there were no significant difference between the two groups of the number of adverse drug reactions (ADRs)after 4 weeks treatment,but the gastrointestinal tract ADRs in Met group was lower than the diclofenac group(P <0.05).Comparing the index of inflammatory factors of two groups,the Met group′s was better than the diclofenac group′s,the improvement of CD3 + and CD4 + between the two groups were significant differernce(P <0.05).Conclusion The clinical efficacy of Melilotus Extract Tablets with Dujiu was significant,the mech-anism may relevant with regulating the levels of T lymphocyte.
