Determination of iron content in Iron Polysaccharide Complex by UV - VIS

Abstract：Objective To establish a method for the determination of iron content in Iron Polysaccharide Complex. Methods Under the acid condition,Fe3 + was dissociated from Hongyuanda Capsules by heating,then Fe3 + was deoxidized into Fe2 + by hydroxylamine hydrochloride,and red Fe2 + - orthophenanthroline complex was formed through combination with o - phenanthroline. The content was determined by UV - VIS at a wavelength of(510 ± 2)nm. Results The linearity was good(r = 0. 999 9),the average recovery was 100. 51%(RSD = 0. 64% ). Conclusion The method was simple,reliable and reproducible,and can be used for the determination of iron content in Iron Polysaccharide Complex.
