Abstract:The misuse of antibiotics has resulted in the emergence and prevalence of bacterial resistance around the world. Many originally powerful antibiotics in the clinic have shown either weak or no activity against resistant strains, which contributes to enormous difficulties in fighting bacterial infections. In recent years, the study has found that filamentous tem-perature - sensitive protein Z(FtsZ)plays an important role in bacterial cell division,so FtsZ protein is considered as a very potential target for antibacterial agents. Some antimicrobial natural products have been found to act on the target. In this paper, the structure and function of FtsZ protein and the antimicrobial natural products were introduced so as to provide the basis for the research and development of new antibacterial drugs.
