Abstract:In order to investigate the influence of different top slag refining processes on the control of inclusions, the changes of inclusions in cord steel during LF refining were studied. This article uses scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy to analyze the trend changes of inclusions in the argon blowing station of the converter,LF molten steel inlet,LF before slag transformation, before and after soft blowing, and continuous casting ladle process. The results show that the slag transformation process affects the evolution of inclusions, leading to fluctuations in their composition. The CaO content in inclusions is high, and the Al2O3 content fluctuates greatly, resulting in an increase in CaO-SiO2 inclusions in steel, with inclusion sizes as high as 20-50 μm.The use of low alkalinity slag technology throughout the process results in minimal fluctuations in the composition of inclusions, the lowest total amount of inclusions, and inclusion sizes ranging from 5-15 μm,which is superior to variable slag technology and can effectively control the quantity and size of inclusions in steel.
