Analysis on fatigue Failure Causes of Round Bar GCr15 Rolling Contact Fatigue Test

Abstract：Round bar of GCr15 bearing steel was developed and produced adopting the process route of LD(100 t)→LF(100 t)→RH(100 t)→CC(240 mm×300 mm)→rolling.In order to verify product quality,fatigue test was done for GCr15 which of fatigue life L10 reached 2.107 6×107.However,the fatigue failure occurred in some samples,in order to find out the cause of fatigue,examination and analysis of SEM,inclusions and carbides was done for the samples which showed the fatigue failure was caused by class B or D/DS inclusions contained Al2O3 that are not easily deformed,even though the size of this kind inclusions was not big and this kind inclusions may be Al2O3,MgO·Al2O3 of class B or CaO·6Al2O3,CaO·2Al2O3 of class D/DS.
