Application of a Green and Environmental Protection Control Method for the Whole Process of Argon Blowing in Converter Smelting

Abstract：The nitrogen content in steel directly affects its formability,welding performance,high-temperature toughness,and brittleness,while also exacerbating the aging and brittleness of the steel.A green and environmental protection control method for the whole process of argon blowing is proposed in this paper.Argon is blown on ladle before steel discharge to control nitrogen content in molten steel during converter discharge process,so that the molten steel flow and steel water surface in the process of steel discharge are in argon atmosphere,thus reducing nitrogen absorption in molten steel and avoiding corner cracks in continuous casting billet caused by high nitrogen content in molten steel.The quality of casting billet,metal yield and environmental protection are improved.
