Study on Mechanism of Dross Formation at Edge of Hot-Dip Galvanized Sheet with Wide And Thick Gauge
DING Zizheng
Abstract:In response to the double-sided edge dross defect that occurred during the production of wide and thick hot-dip galvanized sheets on a certain steel plant's hot-dip galvanizing production line, the surface and cross-sectional morphology and composition of the dross were detected and analyzed through 3D morphology \ SEM&EDS.The results indicate that the dross at the edges of the wide and thick hot-dip galvanized sheet is connected to the steel plate substrate and is generated on the surface of the strip steel, rather than adhering to the surface as floating dross.Thick gauge strip steel has fast heat dissipation. When transitioning from narrow gauge to wide gauge steel, the low temperature area of the furnace roller edge of the annealing furnace causes a decrease in temperature of the wide gauge strip steel'edges. After entering the zinc pot, dross is easily generated at the edges of the strip steel.By using the induction heater at the equilibrium section of the annealing furnace outlet, increasing the temperature of the zinc pot plate, and arranging production reasonably, the dross at the edge of the wide and thick specification strip steel can be effectively improved.
