Development and Production of Low Carbon High Strength and Toughness EH36 Hull Plate with TMCP Technology

Abstract：The low carbon high strength and toughness EH36 hull plates have been developed at Jinan Steel’s 3 500 mm production line with reasonable composition, process design and optimization. The test of mechanical properties and microstructure shown that, EH36 low carbon high strength and toughness hull plate produced by optimized TMCP process can meet the requirements of GB and classification society for its performance index. Such technology can replace conventional process route of intermediate carbon +normalized heat treatment after rolling. EH36 hull plate steel can be produced with low cost, low energy consumption and short stage.
