Development and Application of Controlled Cooling Process after Normalizing for Heavy Plate in Laiwu Steel

Abstract：Through the development of normalizing+controlled cooling process, additional cooling device is installed at the exit side of the heat treatment furnace at the heavy plate production line. The problem that the normalized plate strengths are lower than the standard limit or closed to the standard lower limit was resolved, and the comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel plate were further improved. The yield strength and tensile strength were increased by 20-50 MPa all and the elongation and impact toughness were still adequate spare capacity.
