Development of 40CrMnMo Steel for Railway Vehicle Bumper

Abstract：By design optimum for alloy composition, to oxidize alloying and white slag operating in refining, to increase high purity with blowing argon in ladle floor and narrow composition control technology, the 40CrMnMo steel for railway vehicle bumper was developed in Laiwu Steel using processes of EAF-LF-VD-CC(electromagnetic stirring, stopper control)-rolling. The test results of actual product quality proved that 40CrMnMo has the stable chemical composition, macrostructure compaction homogeneous, and the mechanical properties can meet the technical requirement and mass production was realized.
