Application Experiment of Fly Ash Instead of Lime Milk in Bayer Process Production

Abstract：To reduce the loss of alumina and the production costs, using slag, fly ash of power plant as a new type of filter aid, that can instead of part of the lime milk used in sodium aluminate solution precision filtration system. The orthogonal test was designed, there are four main factors affecting test:the adding quantity of filter aid, solid content, fly ash and lime slurry blending ratio. The results showed that the optimum technological conditions was:filter aid gray solid content were 0.35%and 260 g/L, the mix ratio of fly ash and lime milk was 1∶1. Industrial application showed that the concentration difference of coarse alumina with that of semen alumina was reduced to 1.61 g/L from 2.32 g/L, it could produce economic benefits about 3.870 9 million Yuan a year.
