Protection Casting Practice and Analysis for Profiled Billet Continuous Casting Machine

Abstract：The protection casting process with double strand in continuous casting machine for profiled billets in Laiwu Steel was contrasted with no-protection casting process basing on structural steel in grade of Q345B about process points, quality of both billet and hot rolled structural steel. The result shows that casting billets were in good quality in which the flow field and temperature field for protection process had no obvious change, and after the gas analysis of oxygen and nitrogen from the hot-rolled steel, the gas content decreased by 10×10-6 and the total inclusion quantity decreased by 45.5% from no-protection process to protection process under the same conditions.
