Abstract:Existing eye movement detection methods mainly focus on the open-eye state, but there are few studies on the closed-eye scenarios. We designed and developed an eye movement detection system based on the piezoelectric effect.Firstly, the system used polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)piezoelectric film to detect pressure changes on the eyelid skin surface caused by eye movements. Then, the piezoelectric signal was amplified and filtered, and the signal features were extracted by using sliding window.Finally,re-gression models such as random forest and multilayer perceptron were employed to predict eye movement frequency. The results showed that the system had achieved a complete workflow from sensor input to monitoring display interface output. This research enables real-time eye movement frequency detection and offers the advantages of modularization and adjustability. It is suitable for closed-eye appli-cation scenarios like intraoperative monitoring in neurosurgery.
