Abstract:Ti6Al4V alloy was hydrothermally treated in the mixture solution of NaOH and Sr(NO3)2 at 180 ℃for 1,3 and 6 h.X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive of x-ray and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses showed that films consisting of SrTiO3 nanoparticles (size 80~230 nm)were formed on Ti6Al4V alloy after the hydrothermal treatments, and a small amount of Al and V existed in the films.Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests in a Ca-free Hank’s balanced salt solution demonstrated that the hydrothermally treated sample (3 h)had much better corrosion resistance than the polished one.Micro-hardness indentation test showed that the SrTiO3 film had good adhesion and cohesion strength. The hy-drothermal method to synthesize SrTiO3 films has the potential application in surface modification of Ti6Al4V orthopedic implants.
