Abstract:In order to detect the relationship between engine oil consumption and particle number(PN)emissions, the sulfur tracing method is used for steady and transient oil consumption tests on a turbocharged direct injection gasoline engines.Piston ring groups with different tension are used to compare oil consumption and PN emissions of the worldwide harmonized light vehicles test cycle(WLTC).The test results show that under steady conditions, the correlation coefficient between the sulfur tracing method and the traditional weighing method for oil consumption rate is 0.93,and the consistency is good. The oil consumption rate increases gradually with the increase of engine torque and speed, and the rated power reaches the maximum. The oil consumption rate under the transient condition is related to the engine initial condition, speed change rate and torque change rate. The greater the torque change rate and speed change rate are,the higher the peak value of oil consumption rate and PN emissions is.Under the WLTC,the high tension piston ring group can reduce the oil consumption rate and PN emissions. The oil consumption rate and PN emission have the same change trend.
