The Application of MAGMA on Predication and Defect of Gas Holes in Sand Casting Process of Cylinder Block
Abstract：The cylinder block is the most important in the engine but also difficult part to ma- chine. The level of casting process used for the cylinder block is a basic condition for engine quali- ty. Using the casting simulation software, the paper analyzes the distribution like temperature field, air pressure and air entrap and gives a prediction on the distribution as well as degree of gas holes on cylinder block at two different pouring times, moreover, the result is validated, which provides ref- erences to analyze the reasons of gas holes defect and to improve the casting process.
