Durability of Diesel Engine Fueled with Biodiesel
Abstract:Without any modification to the engine, the durability test of a common rail diesel engine has been carried out for 400 hours, which complies with national Ⅲ emission regulation and fuels with 5% jatropha - based biodiesel blend with 95% conventional diesel ( hereinafter referred to as BD5 ) . The results shows that its power, fuel consumption, smoke and exhaust temperature sus- tains stably, and during the engine durability test, no faults happened such as hard start, automatic shutdown, etc. After the test, power, fuel consumption and the exhaust emission of the engine changes slightly, compared to the parameters before the test.
