Abstract:In the process of urbanization, the protection and revitalization of classical gardens in old urban areas face challenges such as functional degradation, ecological imbalance, and cultural fragmentation. This article takes the Yueyuan Hotel in Jinan as an example to explore the transformation path of Shandong's regional characteristic gardens in the modern context.By analyzing the garden genes of its historical site, the gardening wisdom of spatial reconstruction, and the integration strategy of ecology and culture, the transformation logic of classical gardens from'cultural relic protection'to'dynamic inheritance'is revealed.Research has found that using three strategies of'juxtaposition of old and new','use to promote preservation',and'landscape symbiosis',combined with ecological restoration technologies such as spring water activation and plant community optimization,as well as smart garden systems, with integrating new poetic narrative contexts can achieve creative integration of northern residential gardens and Jiangnan water charm, providing a replicable paradigm of"cultural decoding spatial translation functional empowerment"for the renovation of old city gardens.
