Abstract:Mongolian oak is a cold-resistant deciduous tree species, widely distributed in the northern regions of China, and is an excellent ecological and timber species. To improve the sowing success of Mongolian oak in the mountainous areas of northern Hebei, this study investigated the effects of KMnO4 seed soaking and sowing time treatments on germination rate, seedling height, and ground diameter. The results showed that soaking seeds in a 1.0%KMnO4 solution at 30° C for a specified period resulted in a germination rate of 77.9%,significantly higher than other treatments. The best sowing time was in early autumn, with a seedling emergence rate of 71.5%for sowing in early September, and the greatest increases in seedling height and ground diameter.Comprehensive analysis indicated that combining 1.0%KMnO4 seed soaking with early autumn sowing significantly improved sowing success.
