Abstract：The variation in plant leaf color is a prevalent phenomenon in the natural.Different color variations in leaves are one of the sources of diversity in horticultural plants,which can significantly improve the ornamental value and economic value of plants.A clear understanding of the leaf color variation mechanisms forms the foundation for cultivating new plant varieties.This paper provided a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms of plant leaf color change,including environmental conditions,leaf structural characteristics,physiological and biochemical factors,and the mechanisms related to the synthesis and metabolism of three major classes of pigments,offering insights for plant genetic improvement.
