Abstract:This research work selected wood chips, cow dung, and nursery soil as raw materials for substrate distribution, using a center-of-gravity mix design with nursery soil as the control.Research investigated the physicochemical properties of different formulated substrates and their effects on the growth of larch seedlings. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between the indicators of physicochemical properties of the substrate;and a significant correlation between the indicators of larch seedling growth.Seedling height, ground diameter, root dry weight, whole plant dry weight and seedling strength index of larch seedlings were highly significantly correlated with the capacity and total porosity of the formulated substrate and significantly correlated with the organic matter content of the substrate.Capacity and organic matter content can be used as simple, intuitive, and actionable controls for formulated substrates.Under field nursery conditions, the addition of 23%to 35%wood chips or cow dung to the nursery soil helps to improve the physicochemical properties of the substrate, which is more suitable for larch container nurseries and reduces transportation costs.
