Comprehensive Selection of Growth and Straightness of 41 Leuce Clones

Abstract：Afforestation experiments were carried out on Leuce clones,and excellent clones were selected through comprehensive evaluation of multiple characters.In this study,41 Leuce clones were planted at Shenxian County,Liaocheng city of Shandong province.The diameter at breast height(DBH),tree height,volume,straightness and crown width of each clone were measured in the 8-year old experiment forests.The data were analyzed by variance analysis,multiple comparison and principal component analysis,and the clones with excellent comprehensive characteristics were selected.The results showed that there was a significant differences in each character of the clones.The repeating range was 0.557-0.888 of each character.Through comprehensive evaluation of growth traits and straightness.The five excellent clones were 1316,220,2-00,1237,8 and 1211,with straight trunk.The volume of these clones exceeded the control LM50 poplars by 48.3％,46.1％,27.6％,28.1％and 18.8％,respectively.Among them,1316,220 and 2-00 were male,seedless.These six excellent clones can be popularized and applied in the Yellow River floodplain of Western Shandong Province.
