Abstract:In order to comprehensively explore and utilize the abundant Quercus mongolica resources, this study investigated the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of essential oil from leaves of Quercus mongolica from May to September. The essential oil of Quercus mongolica leaves were extracted each month by microwave-assisted steam distillation, and their chemical compositions were analyzed by GC-MS.The antioxidant activity of essential oil was evaluated by comparing their scavenging rates with those of ascorbic acid on ABTS cation and DPPH free radicals.A total of 9 chemical categories and 70 compounds were identified in the essential oil of Quercus mongolica leaves from May to September. There were some variations in the chemical compositions of the leaf essential oils among different months. The leaf essential oil from each month showed a significant antioxidant activity in a dose-response fashion, with essential oil from May leaves being the strongest. When the concentration of essential oil was 35 mg·mL-1,the scavenging rates of ABTS cation free radicals and DPPH free radicals reached 95.05%and 76.19%,respectively.This study provides a reference for the development and utilization of Quercus mongolica resources.
