Experimental Study on Grafting Propagation of Itoh Hybrid Peony

Abstract：The Itoh hybrid peony has gained popularity due to its robust plant,vigorous growth,strong resistance,erect stem,rich flower color,and various flower types.To enhance the efficiency of grafting propagation,a comparative grafting test was conducted using different rootstocks,grafting methods,and tying methods.The test results indicated that the choice of rootstock,whether Paeonia veitchii Lynch or'Fengdan'tree peony,had little effect on the grafting survival rate.However,the split grafting method resulted in a 5％higher survival rate compared to the patch grafting method,and the use of plastic film tying resulted in a 7.5％higher survival rate compared to twine tying.Additionally,the Itoh Hybrid peony survival rate was the lowest for those grafted using the patch grafting method,while the highest survival rate was observed for those grafted using the plastic film grafting treatment.
