Effects of NaCl and KCl Treatment on Growth Characteristics of Hibiscus hamabo Sieb. et Zucc
Abstract:Seedlings of Hibiscus hamabo were respectively treated with different concentrations of NaCl and KCl.The fresh weight, dry weight and related physiological indexes were then measured. The results indicated that the growth of seedlings was inhibited both by NaCl and KCl,and the inhibition were aggravated with the increase of salt concentrations;salt stress reduced the heights, fresh and dry weights of plants. The results also showed that, under the two salt stress, the root/shoot ratio of plants increased, the succulent levels of shoot were promoted while the succulent levels of root were dropped asComparative analysis revealed that NaCl had more influence on the growth of Hibiscus hamabo than KCl.
