Abstract：This article described the concept of lapels,introduced the basic structures and shapes,analyzed effect factors of lapel shapes from three aspects of point,line,panel of lapels.It pointed out innovative points and shape changes of various kind of lapels,provides theoretical guides for innova-tive applications of lapel element in costume.
