Current Situation and Applications of Water-soluble Binders Used for Wet-laid Nonwovens

Abstract：The article used polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC), modified starch, waterborne polyurethane(WPU) and epikote as examples to summarize characteristics and applications of water-soluble binders used for wet-laid nonwovens.It points out that the disadvantages at present of productions are that physical performance is not high, factory effluent is not environmentally friendly, natural degradation of them is very difficult, etc,.And we propose the directions for further researches are designing functional group or chain structure, developing new binders compound system and new binders.
