Abstract:Using Penalized Maximum T Test (PMT) combined with the marine station metadata information and the nearly meteorological stations as reference stations, monthly sea surface temperature (SST) series from nine marine observation stations in coastal zone ofthe South China Sea are chosen in the experimental homogeneity studies. In consideration of regional factors under the influence of climate change, the change points are synthesized and adjusted. The results show that:(1) Through relevant comparison and analysis of multiple data, the air temperature series from the nearly meteorological stationsdata is currently the best reference series;(2) The average marine station SST data has 1~2 change points, station relocation, instrumental changes and environmental change has great impact on the discontinuities;(3) Adjusted SST time series has show the larger warming trend during the past 52 years, and the result can be a good indication of SST variation of local area.
