Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of continuous nursing on the nutritional status, quality of life, and treatment compliance of patients with inflammatory bowel disease under the protective motivation theory. Methods:A total of 96 patients with inflammatory bowel disease who were hospitalized from May 1,2022 to May 31,2023 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 48 cases in each group, using the random number table method. The control group received routine care, while the observation group re-ceived continuous nursing under the protective motivation theory base on the control group. The nutritional status[albumin(ALB)and pre-albumin(PA)levels],quality of life[using the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire(IBDQ)],and treatment adherence were com-pared between two groups. Results:After nursing, the levels of ALB and PA in both groups were higher than those before nursing(P<0.05),and the observation group has higher levels than the control group(P<0.05).After nursing, the scores of intestinal symptoms,sys-temic symptoms, social ability, and emotional ability in both groups were higher than those before nursing(P<0.05),and the observation group has higher scores than the control group(P<0.05).The scores of IBDQ and treatment compliance after nursing in both groups were higher than those before nursing(P<0.05),and the scores of observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Implementing continuous nursing under protective motivation theory in patients with inflammatory bowel disease can improve their nutrition-al status, enhance treatment compliance and quality of life, and achieve better prognosis.
