Application of Teach-back in Preoperative Interview of Patients Undergoing Orthopedics Surgery
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the application effect of Teach-back in preoperative interview of patients undergoing orthopedics surgery. Methods:A total of 200 cases undergoing orthopedics surgery were divided into the control group and the experimental group,100 cases in each group. The control group used the traditional preoperative interview, while the experimental group was in charge by a nurse who was trained by Teach-back interview team. The main contents include maintenance of surgical site identification, anesthesia position placement and coordination, fasting and water deprivation time. Results:Compared with the control group, the experimental group′s rate of surgical site maintenance was significantly higher(P<0.05),and its score of the completion of anesthesia position placement was significantly higher(P<0.05).Also,compared with the control group, the experimental group′s time of anesthesia position placement was significantly shorter(P<0.05),and the rate of fasting and water compliance was significantly higher(P<0.05).After entering the operating room, the experimental group′s anxiety score was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Teach-back is suitable for all ages and education levels of patients, strengthen the communication between nurses and patients, make patients trust for the medical staff increase. As a civilized, effective communication method,Teach-back is worth further research and application.
