Influence of Nursing Intervention on Quality of Life in Asthma Patients Based on Protective Motivation Theory

Abstract:Objective:To explore the influence of nursing intervention based on protective motivation theory(PMT)on the quality of life in patients with asthma.Methods:A total of 105 hospitalized asthma patients were randomly divided into the observation group with 53 cases and the control group with 52 cases.The control group was given routine nursing care and the observation group was given nursing intervention based on PMT for 4 months on the basis of routine nursing care.The quality of life of two groups before and after intervention was compared.Results:Two groups had no significant difference in AQLQ scores and the scores of each item on the second week after the intervention(P>0.05).The observation group′s AQLQ scores and the score of each item were significantly better than those in the control group on one month,two months and four months after the intervention(P<0.05).There was a significant difference in AQLQ scores and the score of each item of the observation group between 4 months after the intervention and 2 months after the intervention(P<0.05).Conclusion:Nursing intervention based on PMT can effectively promote the formation of protective motivation,establish healthy behaviors and improve the quality of life of patients with asthma.
