Effect of the Feedback Education on Health Literacy,Self-care Ability and Quality of Life of Patients with Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy after Surgery

Abstract:Objective:To investigate effects of the feedback education on the quality of life,self-care ability and health literacy of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)after the surgery.Methods:A total of 80 patients with PDR were divided into the experimental group and the control group according to the random number table,each with 40 cases.The control group received routine health education,while the experimental group received feedback education.Before the intervention and 3 months after the intervention,two groups were investigated by chronic disease health literacy questionnaire(HeLMS),self-care ability scale(ESCA),visual impairment patients survival quality scale to evaluate health literacy,self-care ability and life quality.Results:3 months after the intervention,the total score of health literacy,the score of information accessability,the score of interaction ability and the score of improving health wish of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.01).After the intervention,the experimental group scores of self-care skills,self-responsibility,self-concept and health knowledge were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).After the intervention,the total quality of life in the experimental group was significantly different from that in the control group.Conclusion:The feedback education can improve health literacy and self-care ability of patients with PDR after surgery,have positive effects on the quality of life of patients after operation,and the method is easy and feasible to be worthy of clinical application.
