Abstract:Objective:To explore the effects of PDCA circulatory health education on calcium and phosphorus metabolism in patients with maintenance hemodialysis (MHD).Methods:We randomly selected 79 patients with stable hyperphosphatemia (Serum Phosphate>1.78 mmol/L) who had been treated with hemodialysis for more than 6 months. Before the study, patients′ calcium, serum phosphorus, calcium phosphorus product, serum albumin (ALB),parathyroid hormone (iPTH) and the awareness of health knowledge were statistically analyzed by cross-sectional study.Subsequently, the PDCA cycle was applied to implement the health education management for 6 months. At the end of the intervention, the above indexes were counted again and were compared with those before the intervention. Results:After the intervention, the serum phosphorus,calcium,calcium-phosphorus products and iPTH decreased as compared with those before intervention (P<0.05).There was no significant difference of ALB between after the intervention and before the intervention (P>0.05).The scores of related knowledge and dimensions were significantly higher than those before the intervention (P<0.05).Conclusion:PDCA circulatory health education can improve the self-management ability of patients, significantly improve the calcium and phosphorus metabolism in patients with MHD,and correct the high phosphorus, high iPTH,and high calcium-phosphorus product status in patients with MHD.
