Effect of Therapeutic Communication on Negative Emotion and Coping Style of Patients with Small Surgical Operation

Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of therapeutic communication on negative emotion and coping style of patients with small surgical operation.Methods:A total of 120 cases of outpatient small-scale operation were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,each with 60 cases.The control group was used the conventional care,while the observation group based on the control group applied therapeutic communication.Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and coping style scale were compared between two groups.Results:The SAS and SDS scores of two groups were significantly lower than those of the same group before intervention(P<0.05),and afte the intervention the SAS and SDS scores in the observation group were signigicantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of positive coping style,such as problem-solving,help seeking and rationalization,were significantly higher in two groups than those in the same group before intervention(P<0.05),and the observation group score was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Two groups scores after the intervention of self-blame,fantasy,withdrawal and other negative coping style were lower than those of the same group before intervention(P<0.05),and the observation group score was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Therapeutic communication can improve the anxiety and depression of the patients with small operation,and learn the positive coping style.
