Effect of Extended Nursing Care on Self-care Ability and Quality of Life of Patients with Permanent Colon Stoma

Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of extended nursing care on self-care ability and quality of life of patients with permanent colon stoma after operation.Methods:A total of 81 patients with permanent colon stoma were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,40 in the observation group and 41 in the control group.The control group was given colon stoma nursing guidance in subsequent visit,while the observation group was given the extended nursing care after operation on the basis of the control group.Efficacy evaluation was carried out by using Self Care Ability Scale(ESCA)and Health Survey Short Form(SF-36).Results:After 6 months,two groups′each dimension of ESCA and SF-36 scores was significantly higher than that of the beginning,and the observation group′s each dimension of ESCA and SF-36 score was significantly higher than that of the control group.The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:Extended nursing care is beneficial for the improvement in the quality of life of patients after permanent colon sto-ma and the self-care ability of patients.
