Abstract:Objective:To explore the application method and effect of failure mode and effects analysis ( FMEA) model in the prevention and management of risks in the pediatric transfusion room .Methods:624 children who were given infusion treatment from July to December 2014 were taken as the control group and the children in this group were given routine nursing care and other 713 children who were given infusion treatment from January to June 2015 were taken as the observation group and the failure mode and effects analysis model were a -dopted in this group .The management effect was compared between the two groups .Results:The potential failure modes in the pediatric transfusion room included dispensing error ,puncture error ,puncture failure ,fluid extravasation ,rapid infusion beyond requirement ,adverse reaction of intravenous transfusion ,air embolism and bruise at the puncture site;the PRN values of failure modes was lower in the observa-tion group than the control group (P<0.05);the satisfaction rate of families with nursing care was higher in the observation group than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Application of failure mode and effects analysis in the prevention and management of risks in the pe -diatric transfusion room can effectively reduce the potential risks and improve the quality of nursing care .
