Application of self-efficacy theory in the intermittent self-catheterization of patients with neurogenic bladder
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the application effect of self -efficacy theory in the intermittent self -catheterization of patients with neurogenic bladder .Methods:45 patients with neurogenic bladder were randomly divided into the observation group ( n=23) and the control group(n=22).The routine nursing care was taken in the control group and the self -efficacy intervention was additionally imple-mented in the observation group ,the intermittent catheterization of the patients ,the volume of residual urine ,acceptance and cognition of the patients and their families and the number of patients who restored automatic micturition in 12th week were compared between the two groups. Results:There were statistically significant differences in the comparison of the number of cases of intermittent self -catheteriza-tion,passive intermittent catheterization and refusal of intermittent catheterization in the 4th and 6th week between the two groups (P<0.01);the comparison of acceptance and cognition of the patients and their families was significantly different between the two groups (P<0.01).Conclusion:The effective self-efficacy intervention can improve the cognition and acceptance of the patients and families of intermittent self-catheterization ,which can help patients regain confidence and return to society and reduce the economic burden as well .
