Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of extended nursing care in patients with uveitis complicated with cataract treated with phac -oemulsification and intraocular lens implantation .Methods:107 patients (150 eyes) treated with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation from March 2011 to October 2014 were randomly divided into the observation group (n=54,80 eyes) and the control group (n=53,70 eyes). After operation, the patients in the control group received routine ophthalmic nursing care and the patients in the obser -vation group were provided postoperative extended nursing intervention .The patients had review one month later after they were discharged from hospital. The visual acuity, pupil changes, postoperative complications and total effective rate of treatment were compared between the two groups .Results:The visual acuity of the patients in the two groups improved in different degree compared with that before treatment (P<0.05);the postoperative visual acuity of the patients was better in the observation group than the control group (P<0.05);the pupils remained round in all patients and kept restitution ,the diameter was 2 to 4 mm;no adhesion or pupillary sphincter injury happened;the in-cidence of postoperative complications was significantly lower in the observation group than the control group (P<0.05);the total effective rate of treatment was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:The extended nursing care can reduce inflamma-tion and help the patients with visual acuity recovery in the treatment of patients with uveitis complicated with cataract by phacoemulsifica -tion and intraocular lens implantation .
