A study on the correlation between self-perceived burden and quality of life in patients with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status of self -perceived burden in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis ( CAPD) and to analyze the correlation between the self -perceived burden and quality of life of the patients .Methods:A cross-sectional survey was con-ducted and general information questionnaire ,self-perceived burden scale (SPBS) and quality of life questionnaire (SF-36) were used to investigate 84 patients with CAPD.Results: In this group,the SPB score was 31.260 ±6.582 points and at moderate level;SF-36 score was 51.750 ±9.506 points,SPB and SF -36 were negatively correlated (P<0.01).Conclusion: The self-perceived burden of CAPD patients was negatively correlated with the quality of life ,therefore nursing staff should take appropriate measures to reduce the level of self perceived burden and improve their quality of life .
