Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of the individualized nursing intervention on pain symptoms and satisfaction of elderly pa-tients with herpes zoster. Methods:80 elderly patients with herpes zoster were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group(40 cases in each group). The patients in the control group received routine nursing care and the individualized nursing intervention was adopted in the observation group, the score of VAS,the stopping time of herpes zoster, the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia, the dis-appearance time and relief time of pain symptoms and patient's satisfaction with nursing care were compared between the two groups before and after nursing care. Results:The score of VAS was significantly lower in the observation group than the control group in 2nd,3rd and 4th week after nursing care(P ﹤ 0. 05);the stopping time of herpes zoster, the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia, the disappearance time and relief time of pain symptoms were significantly shorter and lower in the observation group than the control group(P ﹤ 0. 05);the satisfaction rate of nursing care was significantly higher in the observation group than the control group(P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusion:Application of the indi-vidualized nursing intervention can reduce the risk of postherpetic neuralgia in elderly patients with herpes zoster and effectively relieve pain symptoms of the patients and improve nursing satisfaction.
