Influence of nursing intervention by enterostomal therapists on patients with stoma

Abstract:Objective:To explore the influence of the nursing intervention by enterostomal therapists on patients with stoma. Methods:116 patients with colostomy were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group(58 cases in each group). The patients in the control group were given routine surgical nursing care by ward nurses and the patients in the observation group were provided nursing intervention by enterostomal therapists,the nursing effect was compared between the two groups. Results:The incidence of fecal water leak-age and fecal dermatitis was lower in the observation group than the control group(P < 0. 05);the scores of quality of life of the patients were higher in the observation group than the control group(P < 0. 05). Conclusion:The nursing intervention by enterostomal therapists can improve the patients′ and their families′ nursing skills of stoma and reduce the occurrence of fecal water leakage and fecal dermatitis so as to improve the quality of life of the patients.
