Effect of nursing care by differentiating and regulating body constitutions based on TCM theory on quality of life of elderly patients with type 2 DM in community
Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of nursing care by differentiating and regulating body constitutions based on TCM theory on quality of life of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM)in community. Methods:218 elderly patients with type 2 DM were ran-domly divided into the observation group(n = 112)and the control group(n = 106). The patients in the control group received the routine health management;the nursing care by differentiating and regulating body constitutions based on TCM theory was implemented in the ob-servation group. The scores of DSQL of the patients and the clinical indicators changes were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results:The elderly patients with phlegm - dampness constitutions accounted for 29. 5% and with Qi deficiency ac-counted for 18. 8% in the observation group,the DSQL scores of the patients and related clinical indicators were significantly lower than the control group(P < 0. 01). Conclusion:Implementation of nursing care by differentiating and regulating body constitutions based on TCM theory can improve the quality of life of elderly patients with type 2 DM in community.
